About Dale

Dale Hamby is a candidate for State Representative of the 100th District of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.  He made an unsuccessful run for the same office in 2016 but learned from that experience and is back to finish what was started 2 years ago.

Dale currently manages his family farm.  They raise 38 Finnsheep and 18 Alpacas for their fleece and to sell as breeding stock.  After the fleece is processed, Fair Winds Farm sells yarn and roving and a number of wooden tools that Dale turns.  He formerly served as the Executive Director of the Lancaster Workforce Development Board and was an adjunct professor at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.  Originally from Ohio, he is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and Harvard Business School.  Dale retired from the Army in 1993 and since then has worked for several companies, has taught at the college and high school level for sixteen years and has worked for the Department of Defense and for the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  While at the Department of Education he served as a Special Assistant to the Secretary and handled a wide range of issues to include STEM, dropout prevention and data collections.

Dale has been an active volunteer for years to include serving as the president of the board of trustees of the Quarryville Library.  He has also spent the past year as president of the Lancaster South Rotary Club.  Dale was the Red Cross Station Chair at Fort Carson, Colorado where he worked extensively to increase support for wounded warriors returning from combat.  In Washington, DC he has led a number of volunteer consulting teams supporting a wide range of non-profit organizations to include the Yellow Ribbon Fund.  Dale has also served on national boards and has spoken to numerous groups on the use of data to support decision making.

Dale and his wife Jan, who is retired Navy,  live in the southern end of the county.  They have two grown children and were blessed with their first grandson a year ago.  Dale and Jan are both strong supporters of 4-H and of efforts to care for our nation's veterans.
